HOLIDAY MAGIC

West Chicago Community High School's Concert Band offered the final performance of the week, held on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in Weyrauch Auditorium.

To end the week, the West Chicago Jazz and Honors Bands gave a holiday concert filled with Christmas favorites at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 in Weyrauch Auditorium. The Jazz Band opened the program with "Christmas Mamba" featuring solos from seniors Chase Pechman, Neela Myers, and Kyler Campbell, as well as a drum solo performed by junior Caleb Salzman."I think I speak for most seniors by saying this concert was exceptionally special being that the atmosphere was joyous and, overall, just a wonderful time to be surrounded by friends and family to celebrate the holiday season. For me personally I had a wonderful experience soaking up the music and spending time with my friends, keeping in mind - and not taking for granted - the final moments we have with one another before we embark on our own adventures next year," senior Sophia Spinelli said.Like other concerts in the week, the band was accompanied by Leman Middle School's eighth grade band. Similar to the orchestra and choir concerts, students from Leman performed one song alone, and another with WCCHS' Honors Band."In regard to our piece with Leman, I thought it was wonderful, and received many compliments on it. I love the support and collaboration we have with the middle school programs and truly believe they are essential to our program's success and growth," Spinelli said. The group started learning the music for this concert following the end of the football season, and practiced, within their classes, up to the day of the performance.
